General

PART-TIME CLERK POSITION

The Town of Newburgh is looking to fill a Part-Time Clerk position in our Justice Court.  This position is non-competitive.  Candidate must have a working knowledge of an office and must have the ability to follow written instructions and oral instructions.  Good Knowledge of English and Spanish speaking a plus.

Must have good telephone skills and be courteous.  The hours will vary depending on the department’s needs but it is only a twenty-hour-a-week position.  The salary is $17.31 per hour.   It is also a twenty-hour-a-week position.  All applicants must be pre-approved by Orange County Human Resources.

PART-TIME LABORER

One Part-time Position in the Recreation Department. 

The work involves responsibility for routine manual work requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform arduous tasks.  Work is performed under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor.  Does related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:  Ability to perform routine manual work; ability to lift heavy weights; ability to follow oral and written instructions; willingness to work under all weather conditions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  At the time of appointment, possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of New York is required.  Must be able to work flexible hours.

SALARY: $17.31 per hour

Public Works

FULL-TIME MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

The Town of Newburgh is looking to hire One Full-Time Motor Equipment Operator.  This work involves a variety of recurring manual duties in conjunction with the safe and economical operation of moderately complex motor vehicle equipment.  The work is carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures under direct supervision.  Does related work as required.  Operates a street sweeper, a vac-all, and tractor/truck with trailer, snow loader, bulldozer, concrete mixer, stone crusher, or other attached equipment; when assigned to a bucket truck, will also perform all duties in bucket such as trimming and removing tree branches and other related duties.  Performs manual labor such as loading, unloading, digging, and related activities; performs minor repairs on motor equipment and attachments; maintains motor equipment and attachments in a clean and serviceable condition; and completes corresponding motor equipment service records and documents.

Must have good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of motor equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum qualifications: Must possess and maintain a driver’s license in a class deemed appropriate by the Appointing Authority. (CDL)

Salary: Per CSEA Contract
