The Town of Newburgh Sign Regulations were amended at the April 9, 2018 Town Board Meeting following a Public Hearing. The Municipal Code sign provisions were changed to address changes in sign technology and better regulate the number, size, placement, and physical characteristics of signs in the Town.
The Superintendent of Highways or designee has the authority to remove signs, posters, and stickers placed on trees, light poles, traffic signal poles, or utility poles in Town streets rights of way. These signs will be held for 72 hours so that they can be reclaimed, for a fee, prior to their disposal.
Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio would like to remind community members who post signs throughout the Town to adhere to the Sign Ordinance. The Town has been actively removing posted signs throughout the Town that do not meet the sign posting requirements. Signs that fall from the poles end up in the roadway and have actually blocked catch basins causing flooding. Those who re-post signs that have been previously removed by the Town will be fined.
