 Summer Fun for Children

Summer Rowing Camp

Ages 9 – 17 years old
No rowing experience needed. Must have basic ability to swim and tread water. Campers will learn to row gig boats, kayaks and crew shells. The camp will emphasize camper’s individual needs, whether learning to row or expanding their rowing skills. Additional activities will include ecological and marine sciences, arts and crafts, movies, leadership and team building games.

Summer Munchkin Soccer

Ages 4-5
A non-competitive, fun soccer program for the “rookie” in your family, introducing them to soccer and getting them ready to play in our Youth Soccer program.
 
Registration is April 6th-May 31st

Dates: Season begins June 29th
Game times: Will vary from 9:00 am, 10:30 am, or 12:00 pm as per schedule

* Please note: If your child will be turning 8 by Dec 31st 2013 they are not eligible for Young Campers. They may attend Camp Chadwick Have a younger child who wants to go to camp too? Try this younger version of our popular Camp Chadwick. It includes many of the activities from the large camp but still maintains its own individual camp with drop off / pick up at the Rec Dept. Please fill out the Camp Chadwick form to register.

This is an older version of our popular Camp Chadwick for those who would like to extend their time here at camp. They will travel and go on trips with Camp Chadwick, but still maintain their own individual group with 2 counselors.

The Sport Squirts program introduces children to a variety of sports such as Soccer, T-ball, Basketball, Lacrosse and Hockey, all taking place in a safe structured environment ensuring learning is taking place. Activities are designed to evoke a child’s imagination in which they can Find Nemo, send Shrek into a spin or capture Jelly fish with Sponge Bob Square Pants. All activities promote hand-eye coordination, movement and balance and most importantly Fun, Fun, Fun.

Experience over 15 different sports from around the world with the US Sports Institute. All activities will take place in an atmosphere which promotes good sportsmanship teamwork
and most of all fun. Campers will receive Technical Instruction in each sport then experience the sport in a realistic game situation as well as participating in the exciting USSI World Cup Competition. Campers will receive a t-shirt and certificate. This is the only sports camp truly dedicated to children of all sporting abilities.

FIRST PLAY TENNIS

Ages 6 to 14
USSI tennis staff will follow curriculums and guidelines laid out by the USTA, which includes the highly appraised Quickstart Tennis format. At every level, participants will learn the basic fundamentals in stroke production, court movement and footwork skills, all in a low pressured environment. Most importantly it’s all about fun, with games, games and more games during each session! This Tennis Camp is suited to players who are of beginner to intermediate level. All children who attend the tennis camp will have a great time playing and learning the number one racket sport. Children need to provide racket.

First Play Flag Football

The US Sports Institute Flag Football Camp offers an incredible opportunity for any future American Football star to learn and enhance their skills in all areas of this great American tradition. Open to children of all ability levels, the camp will focus on individual techniques and more importantly fun. The week finishes with the USSI Flag Football Superbowl!

First Play Volleyball
(Ages 5-12)
The US Sports Institute Volleyball camp is for children from novice to intermediate
level. Children will receive coaching and instruction in all volleyball fundamentals and some tactical areas. No matter what Volleyball skill level the child is at, they will walk away from this summer camp more confident in their individual Volleyball skill base.
This is a beginner to intermediate program

The animal kingdom is full of beautiful colors and interesting patterns. Come meet some of these colorful characters and find out why they are the colors they are. Can chameleons really change colors to match their surroundings – even if it’s plaid, polkadot or striped? Live animals, puzzles, life-like puppets, games, a craft, and a snack are all included in this lively program.

Are owls wise, are bats blind? As we learn more about animals we’re discovering that many things that we thought were true are just myths! Work with a variety of live animals and find out the real stories behind their behaviors and appearances! Unhuggables –
Don’t squish that spider!! It may just be doing you a favor hanging around capturing other annoying little bugs. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and during this class we’ll be learning to appreciate and maybe even come to like all kinds of animals that aren’t
exactly cuddly. Live animals, puzzles, life-like puppets, games, a craft, and a snack are all included in this cool program.
 
July 22nd:
Celebrating the Small Guys
For this class only, you are invited to bring in a live “pocket pet”. Any hermit crabs, lizards, rats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, frogs, bugs, etc. are welcome to join us as long as they are in suitable carriers. If you don’t have a small pet, bring in a favorite stuffed animal to show off! NOTE: Dogs and cats may be brought during drop-off or pick-up, however, there is not space to have them stay for the whole program. Our small animal pet show will include ribbons, crafts, games and a snack.

Summer Golf Clinics for beginners to intermediate. Children will learn the basic golf techniques such as the swing, grip and ball striking using soft golf balls.
