The Town of Newburgh Detective Bureau is supervised by Lt. Thomas O'Connell, a twenty three year veteran of the department. The Bureau currently consists of five detectives and one crime scene detective. Detectives are on call twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year and handle all major cases and crimes that occur within the jurisdiction.

Detective William Leonick is a twenty five year veteran. He is a certified juvenile officer.

Detective Douglas Scott is a twenty four year veteran. He is a certified juvenile officer and police instructor.

Detective Marc Harrington is a twenty one year veteran.

Detective Glenn Ryther is a seventeen year veteran. He is a certified FBI Firearms Instructor.

Detective Robert Detoro is a nineteen year veteran. 


Detective David Otto is a thirty one year veteran, and has been the department evidence technician for many years. He is an experienced fingerprint examiner.


Detective Otto responds to and processes crime scenes.
