NOTICE OF ANNUAL ELECTION

CRONOMER VALLEY FIRE DISTRICT

 

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Annual Election of the Cronomer Valley Fire District will take place on December 14, 2021 between the hours of 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm at the Firehouse located at 296 North Plank Road (Route 32) Newburgh, New York for the following purpose:

 

To elect one (1) Fire District Commissioner for a five (5) year term

commencing January 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2026; and

to vote upon the following proposition:

 

THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS OF THE CRONOMER VALLET FIRE DISTRICT, TOWN OF

NEWBURGH, COUNTY OF ORANGE, IN A RESOLUTION ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 14, 2021,

APPROVED AN AMENDMENT OF THE DEFINED BENEFIT LENGTH OF SERVICE AWARD

PROGRAM, ADMINISTERED BY THE FIRE DISTRICT AND ESTABLISHED FOR ACTIVE VOLUNTEER

FIREFIGHTERS OF THE CRONOMER VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT, TO EXTEND THE MAXIMUM

YEARS OF SERVICE CREDIT FOR WHICH A PARTICIPATING ACTIVE VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER

MAY EARN A SERVICE AWARD FROM 40 TO 50 YEARS, AND THEREFORE THE MAXIMUM

PROJECTED ACCRUED MONTHLY SERVICE AWARD IS INCREASED FROM $800 TO $1,000

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2022. THE CALENDAR YEAR 2022 CONTRIBUTION DUE FOR THE

PROGRAM IS ABOUT $173,000, WHICH INCLUDES AN AVERAGE CONTRIBUTION FOR EACH

PARTICIPATING VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER THAT EARNS CREDIT OF APPROXIMATELY $2,650.

THE ANNUAL CONTRIBUTION FOR THE AMENDED PROGRAM WILL NOT INCREASE AS A

RESULT OF THIS AMENDMENT AND IS THEREFORE ESTIMATED TO REMAIN AT $173,000.

THE AVERAGE CONTRIBUTION PER PARTICIPATING VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER THAT EARNS

SERVICE CREDIT WILL ALSO REMAIN AT APPROXIMATELY $2,650. THE DISTRICT PAYS

ADDITIONAL ANNUAL ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS OF ABOUT $7,000 WHICH WILL NOT CHANGE

AS A RESULT OF THIS AMENDMENT.

 

SHALL THE STATED RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS BE APPROVED?

 

All residents of the Cronomer Valley Fire District, who are duly registered

to vote with the Orange County Board of Elections on or before

November 22, 2021 shall be entitled to vote at this election.

Any person desiring to have his or her name appear on the ballot for the above office must

have filed a petition, signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified electors of the Fire District,

with the Secretary of the Fire District not later than November 24, 2021.
