Conero Court Reporter 23 3 Francis Street Newburgh, New York 12550 24 (845)541-4163 25 TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING - 6/30/2020 1 2 2 MR. PEDI: It is 10:02 on Tuesday, 3 June 30th. This is a special meeting to 4 discuss electing a liability insurance 5 carrier. 6 The first order of business is roll 7 call. 8 Mrs. Greene. 9 MS. GREENE: Yes. 10 MR. PEDI: Mr. Ruggiero. 11 MR. RUGGIERO: Present. 12 MR. PEDI: Mr. Manley. 13 MR. MANLEY: Here. 14 MR. PEDI: And Mr. Piaquadio. 15 SUPERVISOR PIAQUADIO: Here. 16 MR. PEDI: Next we should stand and say 17 the Pledge of Allegiance. 18 (Pledge of Allegiance.) 19 MR. PEDI: Okay, Mr. Supervisor. 20 SUPERVISOR PIAQUADIO: All right. So 21 as you know, this is a special meeting. The sole 22 purpose is to select a carrier for the liability 23 insurance for July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. 24 I will have to say that I think two of 25 the agents may be on the meeting, too. I want to TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING - 6/30/2020 1 3 2 thank them both, which is Hank Chapman and Ed 3 Kipp, and also John Dana. It was really, I don't 4 want to say difficult. It was more challenging 5 this time because we couldn't talk to anyone in 6 person. Everything had to be done remotely or 7 whatever, and it was challenging. 8 I just want to read off some of the 9 quotes that we did receive back. The first one is 10 Travelers, our current carrier, with a renewal of 11 $342,121. The next one is NYMA, New York 12 Municipal Insurance Reciprocal, $376,385.45. We 13 must remember that we were a members of NYMA. 14 NYMA is a self-insured network of municipalities. 15 We were members back in 2014. We put capital 16 money into that project over four years -- over 17 five years, about 40,000 a year. So if we go back 18 we can actually use that money, half of it this 19 year, half of it next year. But again, there's 20 other things considered. The fact that it's a 21 self-insured pool and all that. We know some of 22 the advantages and disadvantages. The third is 23 U.S. Specialty at $392,742. So they probably are 24 not even a consideration. But whoever we do 25 select, we want to make sure that the sexual TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING - 6/30/2020 1 4 2 molestation is covered under the umbrella, so it 3 gives us not just $1,000,000 but $11,000,000 in 4 such lawsuits. And also the dam failure must be 5 included under the umbrella. So we have 6 $11,000,000. 7 So with that, does someone want to make 8 a motion to select a carrier here? 9 MS. GREENE: I'll make a motion that we 10 select Travelers in the amount of $342,121. 11 SUPERVISOR PIAQUADIO: Is there a 12 second to that before discussion? 13 MR. MANLEY: I'll second that. 14 SUPERVISOR PIAQUADIO: All right. Very 15 good. I hear no discussion; so Joseph, do we want 16 to have a vote here? 17 MR. PEDI: Motion made and seconded. 18 Councilman Manley, did you second that motion? 19 MR. MANLEY: Yes, sir. 20 MR. PEDI: Thank you. 21 Mrs. Greene? 22 MS. GREENE: Yes. 23 MR. PEDI: Mr. Ruggiero? 24 MR. RUGGIERO: Yes. 25 MR. PEDI: Mr. Manley? TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING - 6/30/2020 1 5 2 MR. MANLEY: Yes. 3 MR. PEDI: And Mr. Piaquadio? 4 SUPERVISOR PIAQUADIO: Yes. 5 All right. Thank you, everyone, for the 6 help on this. A very important project. 7 MR. PEDI: Do we need a motion to 8 adjourn? 9 SUPERVISOR PIAQUADIO: Yes, we do. 10 MS. GREENE: So moved. 11 MR. MANLEY: I'll second. 12 MR. PEDI: Motion made and seconded to 13 adjourn at 10:05. 14 Mrs. Greene? 15 MS. GREENE: Yes. 16 MR. PEDI: Mr. Ruggiero? 17 MR. RUGGIERO: Yes. 18 MR. PEDI: Mr. Manley? 19 MR. MANLEY: Yes. 20 MR. PEDI: And Mr. Piaquadio? 21 SUPERVISOR PIAQUADIO: Yes. 22 All right. Thank you, everyone. 23 24 (Time noted: 10:05 a.m.) 25 TOWN BOARD SPECIAL MEETING - 6/30/2020 1 6 2 3 4 C E R T I F I C A T I O N 5 6 7 I, MICHELLE CONERO, a Notary Public 8 for and within the State of New York, do hereby 9 certify: 10 That hereinbefore set forth is a 11 true record of the proceedings. 12 I further certify that I am not 13 related to any of the parties to this proceeding by 14 blood or by marriage and that I am in no way 15 interested in the outcome of this matter. 16 IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto 17 set my hand this 6th day of July 2020. 18 19 20 _________________________ MICHELLE CONERO 21 22 23 24 25
