On April 12^th, 2024, we lost a great community servant, Councilwoman Elizabeth (Betty) Greene.

Betty had served the Town as Receiver of Taxes for 28 years. Prior to her role as a councilwoman, which she assumed in 2006 and held until her untimely passing, Betty was a beacon of service in our community.

Betty also served as the president of the NYS Receiver of Taxes and Collectors Association.

She was a former President of the Orange County Receiver and Collectors Association.

Betty was the former Vice-President of the New York State Association of Towns.

She was also the former President of Leptondale Elementary School Parents and Teachers Organization.

Betty was a long-time member of the Cronomer Valley Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Betty made an outstanding addition to our community and Town Government.

I remember this quote from Betty:

“I believe that good planning is the key to achieving success in government and serving the interests of our residents and taxpayers. Town government must be efficient and effective."

Betty was an outstanding Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She did everything she could for her family and our community.

She will be sadly missed.
